From connected operations to better

Once processes, data, and responsibilities
are aligned, terminals can introduce more
advanced decision support.

Systems can identify inconsistencies,
highlight bottlenecks, and suggest
actions based on current operating
conditions. Employees can focus on
supervision, exception handling, and
decisions that require operational
judgement.
Human oversight remains essential.
Teams define the rules, review
exceptions, and retain authority over
safety-critical decisions.
Supervised autonomy is therefore not
the starting point. It is the result of
clear processes, integrated data, and
controlled IT/OT convergence.
A fully autonomous terminal remains
a longer-term vision. The immediate
priority is more practical: identify hidden
dependencies, connect the relevant
systems, and create a software
architecture that can adapt over time.
Terminal operators should ask
whether their current environment can
integrate new equipment, applications,
and data sources without creating another
